Follow-Up Care With Your Cancer Care Team
After cancer treatment, it is important to continue with follow-up care. Your cancer care team will work with you on a personalized follow-up plan.
Regular Health Screenings
In general, survivors should see a member of their cancer treatment team every three months for the first three years after treatment, and then every six months for two years, then annually thereafter. It is also important to keep up with your regular medical and dental check-ups and to have all age-appropriate screening exams.
Talk to your treatment team about:
- What specific tests, scans and lab work are recommended for your type of cancer.
- Whether genetic counseling is needed.
- Specific lifestyle and health choices you should make.
- Any new or persistent side effects or symptoms.
