About the Center for Community Health
Christiana Care Center for Community Health, part of the Department of Family & Community Medicine, is dedicated to improving the health of the individuals in the communities we serve. We do this by offering a range of services to meet the needs of our neighbors, conducting research that will improve the health of the community and offering health education with an eye on prevention. We are able to offer these integrated services and programs as we work closely with our Eugene du Pont Preventive Medicine & Rehabilitation Institute and are led by the same leadership.
Our multidisciplinary team allows us to provide services ranging from prevention education and train-the-trainer classes to advocacy and wellness programs.
The Center for Community Health is engaged in a variety of areas including women’s health, adolescent health, heart health, obesity, and many other public health priorities. These programs focus on health and wellness, teach consumers to identify health risks, and provide them with strategies to address those risks and teach health advocacy skills for themselves and their families. We are also responsible for the management of fifteen school-based health centers in New Castle County in collaboration with the Delaware Division of Public Health.
