Medicine-Pediatrics Undergraduate Education
- To provide medical students exposure to the combined field of Internal Medicine-Pediatrics (Med-Peds) by working with Med-Peds physicians in different outpatient and inpatient settings.
- To familiarize medical students with the most commonly encountered conditions in adults and children who present to their primary care Med-Peds physician
Students over the course of four weeks will work one-on-one with at least six med-peds attendings in different outpatient settings. Students will be exposed to many of the med-peds residents on different inpatient rotations at Christiana Care and A.I. duPont Hospital for Children. In addition, time will be spent in the transition care practices for adults that have special health care needs (cystic fibrosis, cancer survivors, cerebral palsy, etc.).
Students will be expected to present a 20 minute preclinic conference to the faculty and residents and prepare a case abstract for submission by the end of the rotation.
Special Requirements: 4th year medical students only – unless prior approval given.
