Primary Care Sports Medicine Elective (4th year)

This is a 2 week elective that will introduce 4th year medical students to Primary Care Sports Medicine. Students will spend most of their time in the Wilmington area at the Wilmington Hospital Sports Medicine Center and Wilmington Annex Office. They may also see how care is provided to athletes at a university training room. Students will experience the non-operative approach to musculoskeletal injuries, which includes joint injections, the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound, and appropriate referrals to physical therapy and orthopedic surgeons. The student may have the option of joining a faculty member or sports medicine fellow at local sporting events that are occurring during the elective block. A car is strongly advised for this rotation.

This rotation is only available to Delaware Branch Campus students.
