Many of the data files that Christiana Care generates and submits for registries and Value-Based Purchasing will be impacted by ICD-10.
What do I need to know?
- Generating and submitting these data files allows Christiana Care to participate in activities such as pay for performance initiatives and clinical research as well as to meet compliance requirements.
- Performance Improvement generates and submits many of these files; however, some are owned by individual clinical areas.
- A multi-disciplinary group meets weekly to discuss the remediation and testing of these data files as it relates to ICD-10
What do I need to do?
- If you are not confident that a remediation plan is in place for your registry and the registry contains ICD-9 or ICD-10 diagnosis or procedure codes, contact the ICD-10 Help Line to confirm it is being addressed.

The first character of an ICD-10-CM code is always an alphabetic letter.
