For the safety of our patients and caregivers, we have expanded and changed how we deliver care to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Depending on your medical needs, your appointments could take place in-person, by phone or by video. There may be times when an appointment or procedure may be rescheduled. In which case, we will contact you to let you know. Rest assured, all urgent needs will be addressed promptly.

Existing ChristianaCare patients can request an appointment using their patient portal account.

ChristianaCare’s Rocco A. Abessinio Family Wilmington Health Center is home to three primary care practices among other programs and services. Offering wellness and preventive health visits for people of all ages, and medical care for treating illness and injury, the team of clinical and support personnel provide the high-quality health care that every patient within our community deserves, regardless of income or ability to pay. Care teams include nurses, physician residents, attending physicians, and nurse practitioners.

Primary Care services are supported and enhanced by the on-site pharmacy, diagnostic testing, social services and patient wellness and educational programs.

Family Medicine at Wilmington Health Center

Monday – Friday
8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Family Medicine has extended hours until 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

For urgent needs, Saturday hours are offered weekly in cooperation with other ChristianaCare Primary Care locations from 8 a.m. to noon. Please inquire when calling for an appointment.

For your convenience routine phone calls are handled from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon.

Services include but not limited to:

  • Preventative and sick visits for newborns to older adults
  • Sports physicals
  • Joint injections
  • Sexually transmitted infection counseling and testing
  • Skin biopsy
  • Suturing for minor cuts and wounds
  • Concussion management
  • LGTBQ care including hormonal therapy
  • Osteopathic manual medicine
  • Women’s Health, including:
    • Pre-conception counseling
    • Contraception counseling
    • Long acting reversible contraception including, Nexplanon (implant), Lyletta (IUD) and Paragard (IUD) placement and/or removal
    • Pap smears, endometrial biopsy and colposcopy
    • Prenatal care

For urgent needs, Saturday hours are offered weekly in cooperation with other ChristianaCare Primary Care locations from 8 a.m. to noon. Please inquire when calling for an appointment.

Parents receive expert advice and evidence-based care for their children in all stages of childhood and development.

Services include but not limited to:

  • Preventative and sick visits and for children from birth through adolescence
  • Care for children with chronic conditions
  • Lactation support for nursing Mom and their infants
  • Immunizations and medical care aimed at promoting optimal health
