Flu Season Visitor Restriction

Visitors temporarily restricted to age 16 or older

As a safety first organization, ChristianaCare is implementing a temporary visitation age restriction starting Tuesday, Jan. 21. This temporary restriction protects patients, their loved ones and health care workers during this time of extremely high number of influenza cases and other respiratory illnesses circulating in our community.

The new restrictions limit visitors to patients in Christiana and Wilmington hospitals to persons age 16 or older. Children and teens younger than 16 years are most likely to get the flu and remain contagious longer than adults. This restriction does not apply to outpatient and ambulatory services.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

“My husband received an outstanding level of care. People took initiative to make things happen that we didn’t even know we needed. When your life is totally out of your control, it’s amazing to see so many different people step up in so many ways to get us through to the other side. We wanted to honor people who get lost in the big crowd of caregivers.”

At ChristianaCare Health System, it is our mission to help our neighbors live healthy lives and have access to quality care close to home. It is certainly a rewarding feeling for our health care professionals to know they were there when you, a family member, or a friend needed them most.

As a way to say thank you for the care that you or a loved one received, you can recognize a favorite physician, nurse, or the team of a specific medical department by filling out the form below or making a gift in their honor.
