da Vinci Robotic Surgery System

The da Vinci Robotic Surgery System enables surgeons to perform even the most complex and delicate procedures through very small incisions with extraordinary, state-of-the-art robotic precision.

For patients, benefits may include:

  • Significantly less pain.
  • Less blood loss.
  • Less scarring.
  • Shorter recovery time.
  • A faster return to normal activities.
  • Better clinical outcomes.

What is Robotic Surgery?

Until the development of robotic surgery, surgical options consisted primarily of traditional surgery, which uses large incisions that the surgeon’s hand can fit through, or laparoscopy, which uses small incisions that the surgeon can fit tiny surgical instruments through. Unfortunately, while laparoscopy often produces the most desirable results because it is less invasive, it is not possible for some complex procedures.

Robotic surgery puts the surgeon at the controls of an incredibly precise instrument - the da Vinci - which allows him to perform the surgery through the smallest of incisions. This essentially extends the concept - and the benefits - of laparoscopic surgery to a range of procedures for which traditional laparoscopic surgery is not available. Robotic surgery puts the surgeon at the controls of an incredibly precise instrument - the da Vinci - which allows him to perform the surgery through the smallest of incisions.
