Radiation Oncology
Revolutionizing cancer treatment with precision and care
At the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute, we are proud to offer Adaptive Radiation Therapy (ART), a groundbreaking approach to cancer treatment that enhances precision, effectiveness, and patient comfort. As the first in Delaware to implement this revolutionary system, we are committed to providing our patients with the most advanced care available.
Adaptive Radiation Therapy is a state-of-the-art treatment that leverages real-time imaging to adapt to changes in a patient's anatomy and tumor characteristics during each session. Unlike traditional radiotherapy, which follows a fixed plan throughout the treatment course, ART allows for daily modifications based on the patient's current needs and anatomical changes.
During each session, high-quality CT images are obtained while the patient is positioned for treatment. These images are analyzed by the treatment team to detect any changes in the patient's anatomy or tumor size, shape, or position. Based on these assessments, a new treatment plan is created in real-time, ensuring that radiation is delivered with maximum precision and effectiveness.
At ChristianaCare, we continually strive to stay at the forefront of medical advancements for our patients. The introduction of Adaptive Radiation Therapy at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute is a testament to our dedication to providing cutting-edge treatments that improve patient outcomes and quality of life.
