Surgery and appointment information – Learn more

For the safety of our patients and caregivers, we have expanded and changed how we deliver care to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Depending on your medical needs, your appointments could take place in-person, by phone or by video. There may be times when an appointment or procedure may be rescheduled. In which case, we will contact you to let you know. Rest assured, all urgent needs will be addressed promptly.

Existing ChristianaCare patients can request an appointment using their patient portal account.

Visitor restrictions are still in place for your protection. Please refer to our visitor policy for more details.

Our operating rooms are now accommodating elective procedures.

As an added safety measure, all patients will be screened for COVID-19. If needed, your doctor will order a COVID-19 test to be performed at a ChristianaCare laboratory three to five days before your procedure.

ChristianaCare General Surgery and Surgical Oncology

ChristianaCare General Surgery and Surgical Oncology Specialists offers advanced open and minimally invasive surgery for many conditions, and we specialize in taking care of cancer patients. Our highly skilled general surgeons are fellowship trained in surgical oncology and experienced in treating the most complex cases, using the latest technologies and devices. Our mission is to follow the safest, evidenced-based approaches to surgically treat, relieve and prevent symptoms of disease and to improve each patient’s quality and longevity of life.

As both surgeons and oncologists, we have the knowledge and expertise to determine which treatment modality works best for our patients and at which point surgery may or may not fit in to a patient’s cancer care. We work in a multidisciplinary setting with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, gastroenterologists and other specialists along with our patients and their families to provide a comprehensive plan of care for the best possible outcomes. Because cancer care can be very complex, it is important to see a specially trained cancer surgeon early in the management of the disease.

Our surgical practice specializes in general surgery, cancer surgery and endocrine surgery, including:

  • Liver and Pancreas Surgery
  • Bile Duct and Gallbladder Surgery
  • Upper Gastrointestinal and Stomach Surgery
  • Lower Gastrointestinal and Colorectal Surgery
  • Skin Cancer and Soft Tissue Surgery including Melanoma and Sarcoma
  • Thyroid, Parathyroid and Adrenal Surgery
