Medical-Dental Staff Committees

Below you will find a list of Medical-Dental Staff Committees of ChristianaCare that carry out functions delegated to the Medical-Dental Staff by the Board.

Bylaws Committee
Purpose	To regularly review and update the Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and other policies of the Medical-Dental Staff; and recommend changes to the Medical Executive Committee.
Chair	William Egan, M.D.
Schedule	2^nd Tuesday of the month at Noon.
Staff Credentials Committee
Purpose	Reviews the credentials of all applicants for appointment and reappointment to Medical-Dental Staff. This committee also reviews all applicants seeking to practice as credential health care providers (e.g., advanced practice nurses, physician assistants, and optometrists).

Schedule	3^rd Wednesday of the month at Noon.
Graduate Medical Education Committee
Purpose	This committee has the overall responsibility of planning, coordinating, approving and evaluating the educational programs of the various departments, including undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate.
Chair	Lisa Maxwell, M.D. and Vaughn Wright, EdD, co-chair
Schedule	4^th Wednesday of the month at Noon.
Nominating Committee
Purpose	This committee identifies qualified candidates from the Medical-Dental Staff for positions of President Elect, Secretary-Treasurer, and for At-Large positions of the Medical Executive Committee.
Chair	Immediate Past President of the Staff
Schedule	Ad hoc basis.
Medical-Dental Staff Peer Review Committee
Purpose	This committee oversees the three performance areas of the Peer Review Process: Administrative, Clinical and Behavioral.
Chair	President, Medical-Dental Staff
Schedule	2^nd Friday of the month at 7:00 a.m.
Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee
Purpose	Oversee the safe use of medication throughout the institution.
Chair	Gerard Fulda, M.D.
Schedule	3^rd Monday of the month at Noon.

Infection Prevention Committee
Purpose	The Infection Prevention Committee oversees the surveillance, prevention, and control of infections, both in direct patient care and in patient care support, carried out by Christiana Health Care Services.

Schedule	3^rd Monday of the month from Noon to 1:30 p.m.
Radiation Safety Committee
Purpose	Monitors the radiation safety program and the safe use of machine-produced radiation as well.
Chair	Hung Dam, M.D.
Schedule	1^st Thursday per quarter at Noon, unless otherwise noted.
Critical Care
Purpose	Oversees the quality of services within critical care and special care units.
Chair	Vinay Maheshwari, M.D.
Schedule	1^st Tuesday of every other month at Noon.
Medical Emergency Response Committee (MERC)
Purpose	Oversees the inpatient program for response to medical emergencies.
Chair	Michael Benninghoff, D.O.
Schedule	1^st Wednesday of the month.
Nutrition Support Team
Purpose	Oversees the provision of appropriate enteral and parenteral nutrition care, including nutrition therapy throughout the organization.
Chair	Luis Cardenas, D.O.
Schedule	Weekly patient care rounds and additional ad hoc meetings as needed.
Ethics
Purpose	This committee provides the framework to address ethical issues that arise throughout the organization.
