Safety Is Our Priority – Learn more

At ChristianaCare, everything we do is For the Love of Health™, and that focus has guided our response throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. We have redesigned how we deliver care to keep our patients and caregivers safe, while providing the high-quality care that our community needs and deserves. This includes greatly expanded options for virtual care and telehealth visits, as well as guidelines that support social distancing, wearing masks, a clean environment and limited numbers of patients and visitors to ensure safety. Surgery and appointment information – Learn more

For the safety of our patients and caregivers, we have expanded and changed how we deliver care to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Depending on your medical needs, your appointments could take place in-person, by phone or by video. There may be times when an appointment or procedure may be rescheduled. In which case, we will contact you to let you know. Rest assured, all urgent needs will be addressed promptly.

Existing ChristianaCare patients can request an appointment using their patient portal account.

Visitor restrictions are still in place for your protection. Please refer to our visitor policy for more details.

With the recent change in state regulations, our operating rooms are now accommodating elective procedures. As well, surgical cases are diligently prioritized daily, and those patients with time-sensitive, medically necessary situations are given the highest priority.

As an added safety measure, our surgeons will arrange for their patients to be tested for COVID-19 at a ChristianaCare laboratory before any elective procedure.

Bone & Joint Health

Orthopaedics

Compassionate, experienced care and clinical excellence are the hallmarks of ChristianaCare orthopaedics. Working with many of Delaware’s most experienced and highly skilled orthopaedic surgeons, we have developed medical protocols and support services that enable them to provide superior orthopaedic care. Among these services is our nationally recognized Center for Advanced Joint Replacement. Orthopaedists also provide trauma services for Delaware’s only Level 1 trauma center.

Orthopaedics is the medical specialty that focuses on injuries and diseases of the body’s musculoskeletal system. This includes the bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves that allow us to move, work and be active.

Once devoted to the care of children with spine and limb deformities, orthopaedists now care for patients of all ages. This includes newborns with clubfeet, athletes requiring arthroscopic surgery, people with arthritis and anyone suffering from a broken bone.

Many orthopaedists specialize in specific areas of the body, such as the foot and ankle, spine, hip or knee. They may also focus on specific fields like trauma, sports medicine or joint replacement.
