Good nutrition is a vital part of your health and well being. Healthy foods play an important role in disease prevention, weight control and disease management.

ChristianaCare’s Nutrition Services is a team of highly trained, highly experienced registered dietitians who provide direct nutrition counseling and support to patients, and also work with physicians and nurses throughout ChristianaCare in a variety of multidisciplinary teams, including Cardiac Rehabilitation, and Weight Management.

Counselling for Your Health

Individual nutritition counseling is available to anyone who wishes to eat a healthier diet, whether to lose weight, improve cardiovascular health or even just feel better.

Nutrition counseling can be especially helpful for people with with special nutritional needs. These include:

During an individual nutrition-counseling assessment, you will meet one-to-one with a registered dietitian. After reviewing your medical and nutritional history, our registered dietitian will create a personalized nutrition care plan for you. The dietitian will work with you to establish goals that will assist with your individual nutritional needs.

Nutrition Outreach Programs

ChristianaCare Nutrition Services is available for presentations to your organization or business. Please submit your information via our Speaker Request Form and a member of our team will be in touch with you.

Nutrition Services also works in New Castle County schools to prevent obesity and promote awareness of the benefits of good nutrition. This includes working through the High School Wellness Centers.

Sports Nutrition Services

Peak performance is every athlete’s goal, and performance can be dramatically affected by food consumption. ChristianaCare’s Sports Nutrition Services provides athletes and active individuals with personal nutrition guidance to enhance mental and physical performance. How can we help you to boost your performance?

Nutrition Assessment and Counseling

Our registered dietitians can provide you with a personal nutrition training plan, ensuring adequate intake to enhance training, maximize performance and assist in the prevention of chronic disease. This plan will be designed to focus on nutrition topics most pertinent to your needs, including sport-specific diet plans and supplements tailored to various phases of the training cycle.

A computer analysis of your diet will help the nutritionist to evaluate:

  • Average calorie, vitamin and mineral intake.
  • Distribution of calories from carbohydrates.
  • Protein, fat and nutrient deficiencies and excesses.
