Preparation

Some insurers require a referral form from your doctor or an authorization document from your insurance company. If you do not know your insurance company’s requirements, please contact your doctor’s office or the insurer’s customer service department for assistance.

Please call the lab at least two days before your test date. You will receive pre-test instructions, which may include stopping use of your breathing medications. If you do not follow the instructions, you might need to reschedule your test.

What to Bring on the Day of Your Test

Please bring photo identification and your insurance cards. If you have a referral form from your doctor or an authorization document from your insurance company, please bring those as well.

Refer to the description of the specific tests you are scheduled to take for additional information about what to wear or other requirements.

Obtaining your Results

Your doctor’s office will receive your results within three to four days after your test. Please contact your doctor’s office for results.

Labs Directions

Directions to the lab inside Christiana Hospital

Go into the hospital’s main entrance. Wheelchairs are available here if you require one. Stop at the information desk for directions and appointment confirmation. From the information desk, head in the direction of the Gateway Building. Go down the hallway and follow the Blue Route. Proceed to the first intersection and turn left onto the Red Route. Proceed to the next intersection and turn left. The PFT lab is on your right located in room R115. The walk from the main entrance to the lab is about 300 feet.

Directions to the Lab Inside Wilmington Hospital

Go the hospital’s main entrance. Wheelchairs are available here if you require one. Stop at the information desk for directions and appointment confirmation. Proceed to the left, down the main hallway to the second set of elevators located past the Dental Clinic on your left. Take the elevators to the first floor and turn left out of the elevator. Proceed to the end of the hall and turn left. The PFT lab is located directly ahead in room IN56.
