Expectations and Responsibilities

Daily inpatient rounds, twice-weekly outpatient clinic, 1-2 academic presentations per month, one on-call weekend

Unique Attributes

Weekly academics, monthly hands on workshops (sawbones, suturing, etc.), monthly journal club

Block Dates

All rotation months follow the AACPM (American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine) National Clerkship Calendar

Duration

1 month (4 or 5 weeks, according to the AACPM National Clerkship Calendar)

Offered to

3rd and 4th year podiatric students from all nine accredited U.S. colleges of podiatric medicine

Available Spots

Up to 2 each month. NOTE: no spots are offered in July.
Application or Eligibility Requirements: Application must be submitted through dpmclerkships.org.

Setting

Inpatient, outpatient, and operating room experiences.

Location and Facilities

Christiana Hospital, Wilmington Hospital, Arsht Surgicenter at Wilmington campus

Shifts

Daytime Monday through Friday. One weekend on-call shift with the on-call Podiatric Surgery resident.

Housing

ChristianaCare offers housing for 4th year students from out of the area (60+ miles) who are on rotations with our residency programs.

Parking and Transportation

Car is required for this rotation.

Dress Code

  • Professional attire is required in clinical and patient care settings.
  • White coats should be worn, and students must always have their school ID and ChristianaCare ID visible.
  • Scrubs will be provided.
