Podiatric Medicine & Surgery

Giving students the opportunity to observe and participate.


Expectations and Responsibilities

Daily inpatient rounds, twice-weekly outpatient clinic, 1-2 academic presentations per month, one on-call weekend

Unique Attributes

Weekly academics, monthly hands on workshops (sawbones, suturing, etc.), monthly journal club

Additional Information

All rotation months follow the AACPM (American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine) National Clerkship Calendar.

1 month (4 or 5 weeks, according to the AACPM National Clerkship Calendar).

3rd and 4th year podiatric students from all nine accredited U.S. colleges of podiatric medicine.

Up to 2 each month. NOTE: no spots are offered in July.

Application or Eligibility Requirements: Application must be submitted through dpmclerkships.org.

Inpatient, outpatient, and operating room experiences.

Christiana Hospital, Wilmington Hospital, Arsht Surgicenter at Wilmington campus.

Daytime Monday through Friday. One weekend on-call shift with the on-call Podiatric Surgery resident.

ChristianaCare offers housing for 4th year students from out of the area (60+ miles) who are on rotations with our residency programs.

Car is required for this rotation.

  • Professional attire is required in clinical and patient care settings.
  • White coats should be worn, and students must always have their school ID and ChristianaCare ID visible.
  • Scrubs will be provided.
