Your Future in Focus

The Your Future in Focus summer youth program is designed to build bridges of exposure, connection and opportunity for youths, ages 13-17, that have expressed an interest in health care careers. The program is a career exploratory program that will be offered for one week three times during the summer in June, July and August.

The program will offer hands-on career exploration through interactive learning. Participants will rotate through three exciting carer pathways in the health system:

• White Coat Careers – exposing youth to roles such as physicians, PA’s, and diagnostic specialists.
• Scrubs/Clinical Care Careers – highlighting nursing, clinical tech roles, and other frontline care professionals.
• Healthcare Leadership and Operations – showcasing the essential business, administrative, and operating roles that help keep our system running.

The program will introduce established healthcare professionals to youth interested in careers in healthcare and will help the youth build their own professional network for growth opportunities and success partnerships.

Besides developing the health care workforce of the future, the program will enable youth to address the social drivers of health more effectively when they enter the workforce, and will develop youth community health ambassadors through exposure, opportunity and information.

The Your Future in Focus program will provide a place for youth to engage with their peers, build and enhance communication and interpersonal skills, cultivate problem-solving ability while encouraging innovation.

Youth interested in the Your Future in Focus program can apply for the experience through a web-based application and with a submitted essay describing why they are interested in the program.
