This partnership brings the nationally recognized pediatric expertise of CHOP directly to ChristianaCare — giving patients and their families in Delaware and the surrounding region access to these expert providers for pediatric services, including:

24/7 dedicated pediatric emergency center staffed by CHOP providers
Expert neonatologists in our Level III NICU to support newborns and their mothers
CHOP Pediatric hospitalists working alongside ChristianaCare to care for children admitted for illness, injury or complex medical needs
CHOP specialists for follow up and ongoing care when needed

ChristianaCare partnered with CHOP to bring the nationally recognized pediatric expertise of CHOP directly into the compassionate, community‑focused care of ChristianaCare — giving families in Delaware and the surrounding region something truly powerful: exceptional pediatric care without the distance, the stress, or the wait.

Integrating CHOP’s specialized services with ChristianaCare’s network will create new access to advanced pediatric treatments for Delaware families and reduce the need for families to travel long distances for care.

Initially, CHOP will provide the following services at the ChristianaCare Newark Campus:

24/7 Emergency Pediatric Care Center built around children.
Neonatology care in our Level III NICU.
CHOP pediatric hospitalists will work alongside ChristianaCare to care for children admitted for illness, injury, or complex medical needs.

Infants, children and teenagers will be treated by board-certified CHOP pediatricians, pediatric emergency medicine physicians, pediatric hospitalists, pediatric specialists, neonatologists and advanced practice providers.

These clinicians will work alongside ChristianaCare caregivers to provide best in class pediatric care.

CHOP clinicians will provide in-hospital pediatric services at the ChristianaCare Newark Campus.

As the affiliation evolves, these services will be rolled out to other ChristianaCare locations, and more subspecialty pediatric services will also be available onsite.

CHOP clinicians who care for patients at ChristianaCare may recommend a referral when more specialized pediatric care is needed. In those cases, families will have the option to connect with experts from CHOP, through the dedicated CHOP specialist referral network. ChristianaCare teams will help guide families through the referral process and share details about available options. Over time, additional CHOP pediatric subspecialty services will also be offered directly at ChristianaCare.
