Heart and Vascular Care

Women’s Cardiology Clinic

Specialized heart care for women

We’re experts in the evaluation and treatment of women with cardiovascular disease:

  • During the peripartum period - from the last months of pregnancy through the first months after delivery.
  • during and after chemotherapy treatment.

Pregnancy

We’ll protect your heart, while you protect your little one.

If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or recently had a baby and have any of these heart conditions, we’ll work with your OB/GYN or midwife to help you have the safest possible pregnancy, birth and post-partum recovery:

  • Aortic disease.
  • Atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat).
  • Heart valve dysfunction.
  • High blood pressure.
  • Mechanical heart valves.
  • Palpitations and arrhythmias.
  • Peripartum cardiomyopathy.
  • Pulmonary hypertension.

During and after chemotherapy treatment

You fight the cancer, we’ll fight for your heart.

Incredible advances in chemotherapy and radiation treatments mean new hope for women in the fight against cancer. But these lifesaving therapies can affect the heart – a side effect called cardiotoxicity.

  • Shortness of breath.
  • Chest pain.
  • Heart palpitations (flutters).
  • Fluid retention in the legs (swollen feet, ankles or calves).
  • Distention of the stomach (swollen or bloated).
  • Dizziness.

We’ll help your oncologist come up with the safest and best treatment to fight your cancer – and protect your heart.

If you have already been treated with chemotherapy or radiation—or if you are newly diagnosed with cancer and working with your oncologist on a treatment plan now—we can help.
