Epilepsy Monitoring Unit
You can schedule a consultation with one of our epileptologists by calling 800-693-CARE.
If the epileptologist refers you for a stay in the monitoring unit, you may then be scheduled for admission on a particular date. Our team will make every effort to schedule a date that works for you and your family.
Before coming to the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, be sure to pack enough clothes and personal toiletries, such as deodorant, toothpaste and denture adhesive, for five days.
It’s recommended that you bring comfortable, loose-fitting clothing such as boxer shorts, shorts, pajamas or sweatpants. No pullover shirts are allowed, so please bring button or zipper front shirts.
You should also bring books, magazines, a laptop computer or tablet to help occupy your time. Free Wi-Fi is available.
Before coming to Christiana Hospital, you should bathe as usual but do not apply any conditioner, hairspray, mousse, oil or gels to your hair. Be sure to eat breakfast and take your usual medications.
When you arrive at Christiana Hospital, go to the main hospital entrance door and report to the EEG lab. The EEG lab is located in the outpatient hallway behind the information desk. Follow the signs to the left of the desk or ask for directions at the front desk.
Our epilepsy monitoring unit is here to help you diagnose your seizure disorder and help form a treatment plan.
