Preparing for Your Appointment
All the information you need before coming to your appointment.
Preparation
Some insurers require a referral form from your doctor or an authorization document from your insurance company. If you do not know your insurance company’s requirements, please contact your doctor’s office or the insurer’s customer service department for assistance.
Please call the lab at least two days before your test date. You will receive pre-test instructions, which may include stopping use of your breathing medications. If you do not follow the instructions, you might need to reschedule your test.
What to Bring on the Day of Your Test
Please bring photo identification and your insurance cards. If you have a referral form from your doctor or an authorization document from your insurance company, please bring those as well.
Refer to the description of the specific tests you are scheduled to take for additional information about what to wear or other requirements.

Go into the hospital’s main entrance. Wheelchairs are available here if you require one. Stop at the information desk for directions and appointment confirmation. From the information desk, head in the direction of the Gateway Building. Go down the hallway and follow the Blue Route. Proceed to the first intersection and turn left onto the Red Route. Proceed to the next intersection and turn left. The PFT lab is on your right located in room R115. The walk from the main entrance to the lab is about 300 feet.
The lab is located in the outpatient testing services at the ChristianaCare Health Center at Wilmington Campus. This is directly across from the ED parking area. Patients can be advised to park in the Wilmington Visitor Parking garage and access the parking garage elevator to the ground floor and walking across to the opposite sliding door location of the ChristianaCare Health Center at Wilmington Campus. Alternatively they can park in the ED gated parking area located at 1301 Chamerlain Street and walk across to the sidewalk sliding glass entry of the ChristianaCare Health Center at Wilmington Campus.
Located across from the Main Newark Campus at 200 Hygiea Drive is our Health Center at Christiana Care Pulmonary Function Suite. Free convenient patient parking as well as a shorter walking distance to the testing site are just a few benefits. Proceed to the Main Entrance, next to the ChristianaCare Health Center Urgent Care office and enter the building. Turn left down the hall to Suite 1201 located on your left-hand side.
