Bylaws Committee

Purpose

To regularly review and update the Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and other policies of the Medical-Dental Staff; and recommend changes to the Medical Executive Committee.

Staff Credentials Committee

Purpose

Reviews the credentials of all applicants for appointment and reappointment to Medical-Dental Staff. This committee also reviews all applicants seeking to practice as credential health care providers (e.g., advanced practice nurses, physician assistants, and optometrists).

Graduate Medical Education Committee

Purpose

This committee has the overall responsibility of planning, coordinating, approving and evaluating the educational programs of the various departments, including undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate.

Nominating Committee

Purpose

This committee identifies qualified candidates from the Medical-Dental Staff for positions of President Elect, Secretary-Treasurer, and for At-Large positions of the Medical Executive Committee.

Medical-Dental Staff Peer Review Committee

Purpose

This committee oversees the three performance areas of the Peer Review Process: Administrative, Clinical and Behavioral.

Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee

Purpose

Oversee the safe use of medication throughout the institution.

Infection Prevention Committee

Purpose

The Infection Prevention Committee oversees the surveillance, prevention, and control of infections, both in direct patient care and in patient care support, carried out by Christiana Health Care Services.

Radiation Safety Committee

Purpose

Monitors the radiation safety program and the safe use of machine-produced radiation as well.

Critical Care

Purpose

Oversees the quality of services within critical care and special care units.

Medical Emergency Response Committee (MERC)

Purpose

Oversees the inpatient program for response to medical emergencies.

Nutrition Support Team

Purpose

Oversees the provision of appropriate enteral and parenteral nutrition care, including nutrition therapy throughout the organization.

Ethics

Purpose

This committee provides the framework to address ethical issues that arise throughout the organization.
