Friends Of the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center

The Friends group not only seeks to raise awareness of the excellence of care offered by the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute, but we also focus on raising awareness for prevention. Prevention can take many forms, including taking care of oneself in daily life through proper diet and exercise, but also through recommended health screening tests available at ChristianaCare.

Periodically, the group hosts outside speakers to educate our attendees on healthy lifestyles and the ability to reduce one’s chances of ever having to fight cancer.

In addition to awareness education, the Friends provide essential funding for the Graham Cancer Center through fundraising events, such as our education event “Evening of Hope” and the biannual gala “Celebration of Hope”, and now the Friends 5k Run/Walk. Through these special events, the Friends have raised over $3.5 million for the cancer center.

Some of the recent initiatives the Friends have supported include:

• Psychosocial Oncology & Survivorship Program which helps patients and their families navigate their journey through treatment and recovery with the emotional support they need.
• Cawley Center for Translational Cancer Research (CCTCR) which turns crucial research into new cancer treatments.
