Alan Schwartz, Psy.D.

Alan L. Schwartz, PsyD, is a licensed clinical psychologist and has been with the ChristianaCare since 1993. He serves as the Behavioral Science faculty for the Family Medicine Residency where he provides behavioral health training for Family Medicine and Emergency/Family Residents. His clinical work, as a health psychologist and behavioral health consultant, is at the Family Medicine Center at Foulk Road, a primary care practice serving a diverse population in Wilmington.

Dr. Schwartz earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from the Institute for Graduate Clinical Psychology at Widener University. He has expertise in individual psychotherapy with specialization in treating mood, anxiety and sleep disorders. He has extensive experience in psychological testing, including personality assessment, pre-employment and fitness for duty evaluations for law enforcement and high-risk personnel.

The recipient of grant awards for assessment and treatment programs assisting victims of crime and sexual assault, Dr. Schwartz is trained in specialized techniques for the treatment of psychological trauma such as EMDR and prolonged exposure.

Dr. Schwartz is a fellow of the Society for Personality Assessment and associate editor of its newsletter, SPA Exchange, and a member of the American Psychological Association, Society for Behavioral Sleep Medicine, Collaborative Family Healthcare Association and Delaware Psychological Association.

He presents at professional organizations in the areas of psychological assessment and psychotherapy. Dr. Schwartz also has a private practice in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, specializing in learning assessments with children and adults, is a consultant for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and teaches in the graduate program at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.
