Clinical Service Line Leader, Acute Medicine

Kate Eldridge, M.D., is the Hugh R. Sharp, Jr., Chair of the Department of Medicine. In this role she oversees the vision, strategic direction and operations of the department, advancing clinical care, medical education and research. She is dedicated to faculty development and the highest standards of clinical practice and patient care. She also serves as physician executive of ChristianaCare’s Acute Medicine Service Line.

Dr. Eldridge is a board-certified internist and health care leader whose leadership roles at ChristianaCare have included clinical director of Population Health Partnerships, where she designed, implemented and evaluated the effectiveness of clinical initiatives on quality, patient experience and total cost of care. Concurrently she served vice chair of the Department of Medicine. Her previous leadership positions include clinical director of Acute Medicine Services and clinical director of Acute Care.

Dr. Eldridge joined ChristianaCare in 2011 as a staff hospitalist with ChristianaCare Hospitalist Partners. Dr. Eldridge served as medical director of ChristianaCare Hospitalist Partners which she expanded during her directorship.

A graduate of Sydney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, Dr. Eldridge completed her residency in internal medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, where she also served as chief resident. She holds board certification in internal medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine and earned a Master of Medical Management from Carnegie Mellon University's Tepper School of Business
