Dr. Kaveeta Vinaya Kumar has served as interim chair of the Department of OBGYN and co-Physician Executive of the Women’s & Children’s Service Line Center for Women’s & Children’s Health since 2025. A board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Kumar brings a strong record of clinical leadership, operational excellence and a commitment to innovation in women’s health.

Prior to her current role, Dr. Kumar served as Medical Director of Women’s Health Ambulatory Services at ChristianaCare. She joined the organization following her leadership at Hamilton Health Center in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where she led the Women’s Health Department and supervised residents from the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center OB-GYN program.

Dr. Kumar earned her medical degree from Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research in Pondicherry, India. She began her OB-GYN residency at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, and completed her residency at ChristianaCare, where she served as administrative chief resident. She has been recognized for excellence throughout her training, earning awards for laparoscopy, pathology and outstanding performance as a resident.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Kumar holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, with a concentration in operations and marketing management. Her areas of interest include innovation in health care delivery and population health management.
