Dr. Kaveeta Vinaya Kumar has served as Chair, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Physician Executive of the Women’s Health Service Line at ChristianaCare since 2025. 

In this role, she leads the strategic direction, clinical integration, and performance of the women’s health service line — including 15 OB-GYN practices and more than 80 physicians and advanced practice clinicians — with a focus on advancing care delivery, patient experience and health outcomes.

A board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist, Dr. Kumar previously served as interim chair and interim service line lead, with a strong record of clinical leadership, operational excellence, and a commitment to innovation in women’s health.

Before stepping into these leadership roles, Dr. Kumar was medical director of Women’s Health Ambulatory Services at ChristianaCare. She joined the organization in 2015 following her tenure at Hamilton Health Center in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where she led the Women’s Health Department and supervised residents from the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center OB-GYN program.

Dr. Kumar earned her medical degree from Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research in Pondicherry, India. She began her OB-GYN residency at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, and completed her residency at ChristianaCare, where she served as administrative chief resident. She has been recognized for excellence throughout her training, earning awards for laparoscopy, pathology, and outstanding performance as a resident.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Kumar holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, with a concentration in operations and marketing management. Her areas of interest include innovation in health care delivery and population health management.
