LeRoi Hicks, M.D., MPH, MACP

LeRoi Hicks, M.D., MPH, MACP, is president of ChristianaCare’s Wilmington Hospital. In this role, he oversees the hospital’s overall strategic vision, financial health and day-to-day operations so that staff may provide the highest quality of patient care and maintain strict compliance standards for the hospital.

Dr. Hicks is an internal medicine physician who is renowned for his work on health care disparities and social determinants of health. He has been a member of the ChristianaCare team since 2014, when he first joined as vice chair of the Department of Medicine. In 2016, Dr. Hicks became the Hugh R. Sharp, Jr., Chair of Medicine and physician leader for the system Acute Medicine Service Line. In 2020, Dr. Hicks became Wilmington Hospital’s chief medical officer and its campus executive chair in 2023. Before joining ChristianaCare, Dr. Hicks worked as the division chief of Hospital Medicine for the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School and has previously served as the president for the Society of General Internal Medicine.

Dr. Hicks earned his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine and completed his residency at Mount Auburn Hospital, where he served as chief resident. He next completed a fellowship in general medicine and faculty development at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and earned a Master of Public Health Degree from the Harvard School of Public Health.
