Multidisciplinary Autism Program

Comprehensive care and support for autism.

Is your child or loved one struggling with autism spectrum disorder (ASD)? Finding the right support can be overwhelming. At ChristianaCare's Multidisciplinary Autism Program, we're dedicated to helping individuals with ASD navigate the world around them with confidence.

Our Approach

Unlike many other programs that focus solely on diagnosis, ChristianaCare’s autism program offers a comprehensive approach that encompasses diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing support. Led by experienced psychiatrist Dr. Narpinder K. Malhi, our program is tailored to meet the unique needs of each patient.

Accurate Diagnosis is Key

A precise diagnosis is essential for developing an effective autism treatment plan. Our team of specialists, including child neurologists, psychiatrists, psychologists, and licensed clinical social workers, conducts thorough evaluations to assess your child's or family member's symptoms. The evaluation process may involve:

  • Comprehensive medical history.
  • Physical examination.
  • Developmental assessment tools.
  • Psychiatric evaluation.
  • Advanced testing, such as the Gilliam Autism Rating Scale 2 (GARS-2) and Social Communication Questionnaire (SCQ).

Personalized Treatment Plans

We believe in a family-centered approach. Our team works collaboratively to create individualized treatment plans that may include:

  • Behavioral Therapies: Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA therapy) and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to address specific behaviors and improve daily functioning.
  • Developmental and Relationship-Based Therapies: Strategies to enhance social skills, communication, and emotional regulation.
  • Family and Group Therapy: Support for families and individuals to navigate challenges and build coping mechanisms.
  • Medication: To manage associated conditions like ADHD, anxiety, or depression.
  • Additional Services: Access to a wide range of experts, including child neurologists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, nutritionists, and more.

At ChristianaCare, we're committed to providing the highest quality care and support for individuals with ASD and their families. Let us help you on your journey toward a brighter future.
