Because pancreatic and hepatobiliary cancers are complex, patients benefit from having a multidisciplinary care team with substantial experience in various disciplines review their diagnosis together to discuss the best treatment options. This range of expertise is not always easy to find at one location.
At ChristianaCare’s Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute’s Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Cancer Center, this multidisciplinary approach is our specialty.
Here, we treat cancers of the liver, pancreas, and digestive or gastrointestinal tract with surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. Decades of clinical experience show that combinations of these treatments often are most effective. Your team will tailor these cancer treatment options individually for your cancer and you.
We are on top of advances in interventional radiology that make it possible to destroy cancer tumors with drugs that specifically target tumor cells (chemoembolization) or with tiny sources of radiation that are implanted directly into the tumor. A new treatment for liver cancer, called radiofrequency ablation, uses heat produced by electrical current to kill cancer cells.
Together, these specialists, in consultation with your primary-care doctor and with the support of your care-management team, will work with you to create the most effective cancer treatment plan.
At ChristianaCare, we are committed to providing you with the expertise, treatment options and care you need on your journey back to health. We are here for you.
