Pediatric Neurology

Answers, support and expert care for your child.

When your child experiences headaches, seizures, developmental delays or other neurologic concerns, it's natural to have questions. You want answers you can trust and a team that takes the time to understand what your child is experiencing.

At ChristianaCare Pediatric Neurology, your child receives care from an experienced team that takes the time to get to know your family, listen to your concerns and help you navigate what comes next. Because our practice is intentionally small, families often see the same providers at each visit, allowing us to build meaningful relationships and provide continuity of care over time.

New patients are welcome. Call (302) 623-3017 to schedule an appointment.

What To Expect During Your Child's Visit

A pediatric neurology appointment is designed to help us better understand your child's symptoms while giving you the opportunity to ask questions and share your observations.

We Start by Listening

We'll discuss your child's health history, symptoms and any concerns you've noticed at home, school or other settings. We encourage parents and caregivers to share details about how symptoms affect daily life.

We Perform a Neurologic Evaluation

Your provider will perform an examination tailored to your child's age, symptoms and comfort level. For younger children, we may incorporate parts of the examination into play to help them feel more at ease.

Because every child is different, we adapt our approach to meet your child's individual needs.

We Develop a Plan Together

Before you leave, we'll discuss our findings, explain any recommended testing or treatment and outline next steps for follow-up care.

Our goal is for you to leave with a clear understanding of your child's care plan and confidence in what comes next.

Coordinated Specialty Care When Your Child Needs More Support

Most children receive the care they need through our pediatric neurology practice. When additional expertise is needed, we help coordinate referrals and communicate with specialists involved in your child's care.

We may help coordinate care related to:

  • Ketogenic diet therapy.
  • Epilepsy neurosurgery.
  • Vagus nerve stimulation (VNS).
  • Nerve and muscle testing, including electroencephalogram (EEG) and electromyography (EMG).
  • Botox and nerve block therapies.
  • Multidisciplinary specialty clinics.

We also collaborate with your child's pediatrician, other specialists (such as behavioral health providers), and school and IEP teams. By working together, we help create a more connected experience for families and ensure that everyone involved in your child's care is informed and aligned.

Helpful Tip Before Your Appointment

If your child experiences staring spells, unusual movements, shaking episodes or other symptoms, consider recording a short video when it is safe to do so. Videos can provide valuable information and may help our providers better understand what your child is experiencing.
