The ChristianaCare Specialty Pharmacy provides medicine for certain complex, ongoing health problems. These medicines need to be closely monitored by a pharmacist for safety reasons. They often need special handling such as cold storage and are usually expensive.

To enroll in the program, simply have your provider send your prescription to us. A member of the pharmacy team will create or update your pharmacy profile. The pharmacy will let you know if you have any special requirements from your insurance company.
The specialty pharmacy program offers many services to help with your health goals. Our pharmacy team works together to get you the support you need. We offer this support through many different methods, including face-to-face or telephone communication, video conferencing, email, and print communication.
We are currently in-network for many drug plans. As part of our service, we coordinate billing and prescription drug plan claims. Our team will work directly with your provider and insurance to obtain specialty medication approval as quickly as possible. These medications can be expensive, even with insurance coverage. Our team will work to assist with lowering your out-of-pocket cost by locating available financial assistance programs.
Our pharmacists work with your health care team. They review your health records and your providers’ notes. Using this information, they create a plan specifically for you. Then, a pharmacist will talk to you about your care plan. They will also teach you how to take your medicine.
