Our pulmonary specialists are at ChristianaCare's hospitals in Wilmington and Newark, Delaware as well as Elkton, Maryland to meet the needs of ill or injured patients.

  • Pulmonary physicians who coordinate your lung and respiratory care as well as perform pulmonary procedures. We can report consultations, test results and procedure outcomes to your primary care physician.
  • Board-certified pulmonary critical care specialist for all patients admitted to a critical care unit in a ChristianaCare hospital.
  • An electronic (eICU) centralized remote surveillance program that ensures expert lung care can be provided 24 hours a day in any hospital room.
  • Daily multidisciplinary hospital rounds that include your respiratory therapist, nurse, dietician, physical therapist, and other services.
  • Daily evaluations to determine physical and occupational therapy needs. Our ICU Mobility Team increases the number of ICU patients who receive physical therapy, resulting in shorter times in the ICU and the hospital.
  • A roaming pulmonary intensivist to provide immediate critical care to patients located anywhere within the hospital and to assist with emergent situations out of the ICU.
  • An alert team to provide immediate ICU-level care in the ED. This practice is proven to reduce ED length of stay.
  • A rapid response team to immediately evaluate and transport patients within the hospital who need ICU-level care.
