Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is pain-free, safe and effective.

What is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy, or HBOT, is a medical treatment that uses pressurized oxygen to aid in healing wounds. The patient relaxes in a comfortable, pressurized chamber that circulates 100 percent oxygen at two to three times atmospheric pressure to promote healing.

By increasing the amount of oxygen in your blood that is circulated to body tissues, hyperbaric oxygen therapy can promote wound healing, preserve damaged tissues, help to control infection and increase the formation of blood vessels. It can be an appropriate treatment option for people with:

    • Diabetic ulcers.
    • Chronic refractory osteomyelitis.
    • Soft tissue radionecrosis.
    • Osteoradionecrosis.
    • Radiation cystitis, proctitis, and enteritis.
    • Actinomycosis.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is pain-free, safe and effective, with few or no side effects.

Individual treatments typically last 90 to 120 minutes. The number of treatments needed varies by condition and are administered once daily, five days per week.

During treatment, the patient relaxes in a see-through atmosphere-controlled chamber that allows freedom of movement. Most patients listen to music, watch TV or nap during treatment.
