Patients vary in which of the two conditions is more dominant. Sometimes one condition can mask or aggravate another. For instance, if you go to the bathroom frequently, you might just have an overactive bladder or you might have trained yourself to do this to avoid leaks caused by stress incontinence. This increase in frequency, however, also can lead to urge incontinence.
Mixed urinary incontinence is the most common cause of incontinence.
The treatment options for mixed urinary incontinence are the same as those for stress incontinence and urge incontinence. Treatment is usually based on the results of bladder testing.
