About The Office of Allied Health and Undergraduate Education

  • Allows for hands on learning and extended experiences, required by school.
  • Welcomes over 400 participants per year.
  • Holds affiliation agreements with over 100 educational institutions throughout the country.
  • Placement sites span system wide, in DE, PA & MD.
  • Requires extern to be enrolled in an accredited educational program.
  • Requires extern to complete clearances such as drug screen, background check, immunizations, etc. ChristianaCare does not provide this service.
  • Requires school and/or extern to hold appropriate general commercial and professional liability insurance coverage.

    Allied Health Onboarding Process

    • Accepted participants only.
    • Affiliation agreement with educational institution is required.
    • Complete the same process for initial and return rotations.
    • 30 days notice is required for onboarding. Anticipate this when discussing a start date.
    • To initiate the onboarding process, the participant should email the Allied Health Education Program Administrator. Anne.Smith@ChristianaCare.org (302) 320-4590
    • Participant will be sent Step 1 onboarding instructions and will report school contact information.
    • School and participant will be sent the Allied Health checklist instructions.
    • Participant completes Step 1 – 3 of onboarding and works with school to complete the Allied Health checklist items.
    • School reviews checklist items and signs checklist. School submits checklist to Administrator. School submits certificate of insurance to Administrator.
    • Participant must be cleared at least one week before their start date. Earlier is preferred.
    • Administrator will notify school, participant and preceptor of clearance to participate. 

    Allied Health Parking Policies

    Christiana Hospital - Newark, DE
    • Park in Lot T only.
    • No parking in visitor garage or lots.
    • No parking in employee lots.
    • Parking is free.
    Wilmington Hospital - Wilmington, DE
    • Park in employee parking garage.
    • ChristianaCare ID badge is needed to access employee garage.
    • Allied Health participants are expected to park on the top two levels.
    • Participant may not receive their badge until their first day on site.
    • First day Allied Health participants ONLY can be permitted to park in the visitor garage.
    • Parking is free.
    Union Hospital - Cecil County, Elkton, MD
    • Park in the parking garage.
    • Garage entrance is across from the main entrance. 
    • Parking is free.
