Magnet® Designation

The pre-eminent recognition for hospital systems in the United States.

Nursing Excellence

The Magnet® designation for nursing excellence from the American Nurses Credentialing Center is the pre-eminent recognition for hospital systems in the United States. Only 8 percent of the nation’s hospitals hold the prestigious Magnet designation. ChristianaCare was first in Delaware to achieve Magnet status in 2010, and is first in the state to be a three-time designee, demonstrating sustained excellence in nursing practice and adherence to national standards.

2023 Excellence in Nursing Awards

To honor nurses who bring their best each day, ChristianaCare’s Professional Nurse Council celebrated with the Excellence in Nursing awards at four campus-based ceremonies during Nurses Month in May. These nurses were nominated by their peers for extraordinary care and commitment to serving with love and excellence.

Magnet Designation Team Outside

In 2020, ChristianaCare earned its third Magnet designation for Christiana and Wilmington Hospitals, Ambulatory Services and ChristianaCare HomeHealth.
