The “Follow Me” Workflow

Cerner applications will pick up where you leave off from workstation to workstation, including dragon/DMO, resulting in faster load times.

Please be extra vigilant:  Right Patient, Right Chart.

If you have a patient chart or window open and move to another workstation (or the same workstation in the case that someone badges over your session) – you will pick up exactly where you left off.

A few things to note:

  • This functionality will time-out after 45 minutes of inactivity.
  • When moving from unit to unit – the PowerChart Patient List window will close. Make sure to click Patient List to select new patient instead of closing the current patient chart.   This is to ensure the patient list updates to the display the new unit.
  • “Follow Me” will work even if you are moving between different types of workstations (e.g. regular workstation/laptop and badge-and-go workstation).
  • When logging on to a regular workstation/laptop (non-badge) after you have had an active PowerChart session on any other computer, PowerChart will automatically load/follow when you click on the applications tab – do not relaunch PowerChart.
