Young Friends of ChristianaCare

Raising funds for philanthropic programs to enhance patient experience.

Young Friends Philanthropy

Since 2016, the Young Friends of ChristianCare have raised funds and collected supplies for philanthropic programs that enhance the patient experience.

This group is currently comprised of more than 60 students from 19 high schools across the region. The projects they’ve supported include:

  • Collecting more than 6,000 books for the ChristianaCare Pediatrics Department so that children who visit the hospital can browse and take a favorite home with them when they are discharged.
  • Supporting the prom and fields trip for the First State School.
  • Supporting transportation for Camp FRESH participants.
  • Helping to provide clothing, toiletries, and rides home for patients through the Emergency Department Special Needs Fund.
2024-2025 Project: I.M.P.A.C.T.

The Young Friends of ChristianaCare has selected I.M.P.A.C.T., ChristianaCare’s Infant Maternal Pediatric Advanced Care Team, as the beneficiary of the 2024-2025  philanthropy project. IMPACT provides holistic perinatal palliative care to families facing a potentially critical situation, uncertainty, severe prematurity, a long hospital course, or the loss of their child. The team comprises a group of specially trained, dedicated professionals who provide compassionate and dignified care in addition to and in collaboration with the medical team.

The funds raised will support:

  • The purchase of precious “memory-making items” like heartbeat recorders and hand and foot mold supplies to create thoughtful memories for families.
  • Vital yet costly education for clinical staff
  • The cost of books, journals, and literature provided to families to aid in their grief process.

Please help us support families who may have to say hello and goodbye at the same time by making a tax-deductible gift today.

The Young Friends of ChristianaCare also participate in conversations with health system leaders and hands-on activities in genetics and other areas. Click here to read more about the Young Friends.
