Brett E. Herb, DSW, LCSW, is the Clinical Program Manager for the Gender Wellness Program at ChristianaCare. Dr. Herb joined ChristianaCare in 2006.
Dr. Herb has been in clinical practice for over 30 years as a psychotherapist and a clinical and administrative manager for various behavioral health programs. Dr. Herb received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Delaware, his Master of Social Work degree from Widener University, and his Doctor of Social Work in Advanced Practice and Leadership degree from the University of Tennessee.
Dr. Herb oversees the Gender Wellness Program, which provides gender-affirming diagnostic services and psychotherapy to the transgender and gender diverse population.
Dr. Herb believes in the Standards of Care set forth by the World Professional Association of Transgender Health (WPATH). WPATH promotes the highest standards of health care for individuals through the articulation of Standards of Care (SOC) for the Health of Transsexual, Transgender, and Gender Nonconforming People. The SOC is based on the best available science and expert professional consensus.
Dr. Herb has presented many workshops on gender dysphoria and the clinical treatment of transgender identifying individuals to medical providers, therapists, school counselors, and community and professional organizations, both locally and nationally. He is a member of WPATH, the National Association of Social Workers, and the Delaware Psychological Association.
