Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) Study Group

The Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) study group can help participants prepare for the CPPS exam through discussion around the four domain content areas: Culture​; Systems Thinking, Human Factors Engineering, and Design; Safety Risks and Responses; Performance Measurement, Analysis, and Improvement and Monitoring. The study group will also review important test-taking strategies and preparation tactics for taking a professional certification exam.

Candidates for the CPPS credential must integrate patient safety practices into their professional roles.

Candidates must also possess academic and professional experience at one of the following levels:

  • A baccalaureate degree or higher, plus three years of experience in a healthcare setting (including clinical rotations and residency programs), or
  • An associate degree or equivalent, plus five years of experience in a healthcare setting (including clinical rotations).
